About this opportunity
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2025 is a global, online program focused on introducing new contributors (often students) to open source software development. Participants work remotely with an open-source organization on a ~12-week coding project under the guidance of experienced mentors. The program runs during the summer and connects aspiring developers with global open source communities.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older at the time of registration
- Must be a student or an open-source beginner with limited prior experience
- Must be eligible to work in the country of residence for the duration of the program (able to legally receive the stipend)
- Strong programming skills in relevant language(s) required for the project
- Preferred prior experience contributing to open source projects (e.g., submitting patches, participating in community work)
What you'll get
- Stipend payment based on country (PPP adjusted): up to ~$6000 USD in the US and ~$3000 USD in Poland for large projects; ~$3300 / ~$1500 for medium projects; ~$1650 / ~$750 for small projects
